Athletics day by Qaiden
Splash! On went the paint in Room 2. It was as bright as the blue sun, I felt very proud of my house. The whole of Room 2 had paint to represent their house on the wet Friday morning . We had Athletics to see who is going to Paihia. I was as excited as a cheetah.
We finished high jump and then we were with Whaea Sally. Yay! Shot put. We got into a 4 lines and I had the 3rd shot, I was 1st place for 2 rounds until ... Ngapua took me over to 2nd. And guess what happened… Jahrome took Ngapua over so it was Jahrome 1st, Nguapua 2nd and ME 3rd.
100 meter House relays the year 5s were running (I’m a year 5) but I wasn’t in the year 5 race they chose me for the year 6 race. I ran like a hare. I ran there first and I made it back first. We ended up winning the race in style. Overall we won 3 / 8 100 meter runs (there were 4 teams Ngapipito, Waiomio, Taumarere and Tirohanga) I was proud.

The Hardcore Dance Company comes to Kawakawa Primary
We were very fortunate to have the Hardcore Dance Company perform for us today.
It was extra special because Payton's sister Paris was one of the dancers in the crew.
Here she is taking center stage below.
The best part of the show was when some of our school were picked to go up on stage and dance with the crew as well. Even Mrs Henare went on stage to bust some moves. Can you spot her?
A Splash of Colour in the classroom
Yesterday Whaea Sally was out for the day at a Te Reo Maori Workshop in Kaikohe.
But boy did she get a special surprise from us when she walked into the classroom!
Scattered around the room were our Halloween Houses that we worked on with Mrs Cowles. They were colourful, bold and Whaea Sally absolutely loved them! She can't wait to show them off at our Art Exhibition in week 8.

Meeting Blair Tuke and Peter Burling
Our class have been learning all about our New Zealand Athletes who participated at the Rio Olympics. Falcon and Daniel were buzzing with excitement because they had the opportunity to meet their New Zealand athlete Blair Tuke and his team mate Peter Burling today at the pairs homecoming parade.
Falcon received a medal of his own and showed us all when he came back to school.

School Olympics by Roxy Palmer
“Oh no” I said quietly”getting all nervous as we were walking through town seeing all the people. Our country was Jamaica and the boy’s were all yelling “Jamaica!” and “Rasta!”. We were all walking and then once we went through town, I started to feel embarrassed and shy.
After the parade we were put into our groups for the activities. There was a lot of activities going but my group didn't get to do them all because there wasn't enough time. These were the activities we got to do, Shoots , Kicking balls, Knee soccer, Tennis and Discus, Shot put, Javelin and last of all we played Table tennis.
Lastly we played relays and the games we played in the relays were, Hula hoops and one where you have to go to the other side of the court, so we started at one side and got to the other side. After all of the activities I wished I could do it all again because that’s how fun it was. We also had free time after our activities.

Today after a very long, long time our school pool was reopened. All the students participated in the opening and enjoyed a great pool party. We now have great new change rooms and the pool is painted dark blue colour which makes it look amazing. It is so great that we don't have to trek to the college every day to swim.
We have been learning to visualize and draw on paper what we see in our minds as Mrs Lemon describes something to us. Here are our nogard visualizations

Chromebook Roll Out
.Yesterday was the school Chromebook roll out day where over 100 students received their own chrome book. There was much excitement as the teachers had blown up balloons and tied them around the boxes with ribbon. We are very thankful to our parents for their support in providing the money for this resource and we will work hard to make them proud.
