Learning new tools
Hello my name is Jackie. Today I learned how to use Kizoa. It was easy to take the pictures, it was hard to learn how everything worked on chromebook at first but with more practice it got easier.
My next step is to find other ways to use Kizoa.

Leaving footprints on the internet.
Kia ora koutou katoa! For our Cybersmart lessons the focus has been Smart Footprints. For our first session, The tamariki in Room 2 talked about (1)Who visits their blog, & (2)Why they would visit their blog. We also spoke about places online where people could find something we have said or done. We are starting to become more and more aware that what we say or do online leaves a digital footprint behind that is permanent.

Wacky Weather, Wacky Tales!
On this wet and humid day, we decided to have a little fun with parts of speech by going onto a website called Wacky Web Tales. The Year 6 students were already familiar with this site but it was the first time our Year 5's created their very own Wacky Web Tale.
Whaea Sally went through the different parts of speech such as exclamation, nouns, verbs and adverbs. It was important for us to go over things like plurals and tenses. But it all paid off when we began to create our Wacky Web Tale. It was Hilarious!
Here are some of our Wacky Web Tales from today. Enjoy!

Room 2's Treaty
Last week, our class had a special "meet the teacher" evening. This was an opportunity for
our family to meet Whaea Sally and see what kinds of things we do during our school day. The first thing that Whaea Sally mentioned was our Treaty. Have a look at our video of our promises.
In small groups, we talked about promises we could make by relating them to our school values which are Respect, Resilience and Responsibility. Then together as a class we decided and finalised what our treaty would say.
Then together, we all signed our treaty.
Our treaty is hanging on our wall where we can always see it.

New year, new chromebooks
Today was a very exciting day for some of our students at Kawakawa Primary School. It was our Chromebook roll out day, a special day where our year 4 students and our new students in year 5-8 get their very own chromebook.
Our school have only been using chromebooks for a year. We are learning so much on our chromebooks and we love finding new and interesting ways to show our learning.

Kawa of Care
In room 2 we are talking about the Kawa of care, today we chose 3 things about the Kawa of care that we think are most important. This is Deeny's poster and next time she would love to do her very own D.L.O (Digital Learning Object)
