Waste Busters!

On Tuesday, we had a very special visitor from the Zero Waste Education.  Her name was Anouk and she came to talk to us all about recycling.  We learnt a lot of interesting facts like what aluminium was made from, what happens to rubbish once it gets to landfill.  We even shared with Anouk some of the facts that we knew from our plastic fantastic inquiry.  We did lots of hands on activities as well.  Have a look at our video to see what we did.

  1. Kia ora Room 2,
It's Tania here, I am at Kaikohe West School in Room 5. We are looking at your blogpost and learning about quality comments.
Your blogpost shows us that you care about the environment. We learnt that you are taking care of your school by picking up rubbish. We liked that you shared your learning with photos and videos as well as telling us about it. We pick up rubbish everyday at our school, we find rubbish 50% of the time. What did you learn about what happens to rubbish once it goes to the landfill?

    2. Hi Lucy, it was messy business alright! The students did not get a certificate for the day but sometimes I have a "magic piece" on the ground that the Room 2 students have to try and find. I have to admit, the tamariki really enjoyed going outside and picking up rubbish, the yuckiest thing we found was rotten apple cores
